Topic: : Methane Emission Abatement and Monitoring Practices in ADNOC

Abstract: Oil and gas companies are under pressure to decarbonize its value chain. According to IPCC, “deep reductions” in non-CO2 emissions like methane are necessary to keep global average temperature rise within 1.5C0. Reduction of methane emissions is recognized as an important opportunity to achieve rapid climate benefit. OGCI set a target to reduce methane intensity to below 0.25% by 2025. ADNOC is implementing best available technologies and practices to minimize methane emissions which include zero non-routine flaring, low emission valves and seals, green completions, routine LDAR surveys, as a result, ADNOC methane intensity is low. Despite good methane performance, detecting and measuring methane emissions in a comprehensive and cost effective manner remains a fundamental challenge. The presentation outlines technologies being implemented in ADNOC and proposed techniques to improve methane detect and track methane emission for accurate reporting and help in making realistic emission targets in value chain.
